TensorFlow Workshop @ Google Singapore
Flew to Singapore just for the day to attend a TensorFlow Workshop and it was totally worth it! It was a very hands on codelab conducted by Machine Learning Professionals from Google and the industry that was based around APAC.
The workshop was a very hands on code lab. I realised that my maths background in Financial Engineering and the algorithms I code were very relevant to Machine Learning. Even matrix maths and statistics I learnt in engineering were relevant. Machine Learning just has a different jargon for things such as neurons etc, but they still optimise matrices with respect to contraints, etc.
I had some compatibility issues with using Docker and Windows Home, so I had to run Cloud DataLab notebooks on Compute Engine. (2 weeks later: realised I had been charged 35 USD as I had forgotten to switch off my Virtual Machine instance after the code lab for 2 weeks).
Overall it was a very eye opening experience. The workshop was also held at Google Singapore which was based in the beauiful MapleTree complex.
