Women Techmakers Singapore 2018

Flew to Singapore just for the day today to attend this event. And it was AMAZING!

The swag was phenomenal! We each got a free Android Things kit for our Android things codelab. The codelab involved creating a device that identifies what is in front of it using Tensorflow (picture above). This was my first time playing with Android things, and although the software part was really easy, the hardware part was a bit fiddly (especially the hooking up the antennas).

I’m really looking forward to playing more with this kit at home. I ended up having to buy a bag and check-in luggage on the way back (weighing 2kg) as the kit had a screwdriver inside, and I didn’t want to risk getting it confiscated in the airport.

To top it all off, the swag included custom bags and books and card holders. We also had wine at the end, always a bonus! Congratulations to the Women Techmakers Singapore team for hosting such an awesome event! Will definitely be back again next year!
